
Matthew Robert "Matt" Patrick (born November 15, 1986), also known by the screen name MatPat , is the internet personality, actor, writer and producer of America. He is best known as the creator and narrator of the YouTube webseries Game Theory , where he commented on topics such as logic, scientific accuracy, and knowledge of various video games and the gaming industry. He is also known for creating spinoff Film Theory, centered around cinema and internet filmography. In 2015, Patrick created one of YouTube's first live channel, GTLive , and in 2016, he created the YouTube Red MatPat's Game Lab series. As of June 2017, Patrick has collected over 13 million subscribers and over 1.6 billion views on all three channels. Between July 1, 2016 and July 31, 2016, he starred in the The Runner game show.

Matthew Robert Patrick was born on November 15, 1986 in Medina County, Ohio. Growing up, Patrick was interested in art, especially musical theater. He valued his students' whole-school education and spent most of his school career out of school studying or taking classes. His enthusiasm for learning made him spend his lunch time to attend classes and spend his summer vacation taking courses on college campuses. He eventually became the heir of his graduation grade speech, and earned a perfect score on his SAT. His strong academic record earned him a full academic scholarship to Duke University.
Soon after graduating Summa Cum Laude from Duke University with a dual department of psychology and theater, Patrick moved to New York City to pursue an acting career, which he eventually quit because he was unable to generate a satisfactory income. After two years of mostly unemployment, she uploaded a promotional trailer for Game Theory, and four days later, she uploaded the first episode, explaining the scientific accuracy of the time-traveling mechanics in the SNES game Chrono Trigger .
He currently lives in Los Angeles, California with his wife Stephanie Cordato and their pet cat Skip (commonly referred to as CatPat).

The Game Theorists
Patrick first created a YouTube account under the name "MatthewPatrick13" in 2009. He uploaded many videos of his performances and auditions for musical theater, including where he sang "It Takes Two" from Hairspray music. The first video he put in plenty of time to edit was the video he used to file with his wife now, Stephanie.
On April 18, 2011, she uploaded the first episode of her new show, Game Theory , where she discusses the relationship between reality and games in terms of science, math, and culture. Inspired by the episode of the YouTube Extra Credit episode of Tangential Lessons (March 23, 2011) he created Game Theory with the goal of creating a "game tangential learning experience Minecraft , Five Nights at Freddy's , Call of Duty and Pokés © mon , as well as many other games. - Game Exchanges (July 5, 2012 - June 7, 2014 at The Game Theorists , still in Gaijin Goombah ) is a show by Michael Sundman where he speaks in a high-pitched voice as a Goomba character named Gaijin Goombah about the game in relation to various international cultures. The version on The Game Theorists has since been permanently replaced with Culture Shock beginning on April 10, 2014 as a very similar show in style and content. Starting in 2016, the original sound is used in The Game Theorists version.
- Digressing and Sidequesting (December 26, 2011 -) is an event hosted by Ronnie Edwards that focuses on game design. It starts on the YouTube channel DigressingNSQ and moves to The Game Theorists on August 30, 2012.
- Crossover (December 28, 2013 - September 9, 2014) is an event hosted by Drake McWhorter and Ken Landefeld that proves that two game or series characters exist in the same universe. In February 2016, the script for the relaunch was completed. In August 2016, McWhorter tweeted that the first episode of the second season had been done and they were awaiting official approval. In June 2016, they announced that they had received no response and that the project was in a limbo state. In August 2017, Landefeld tweeted that "MatPat did not take a season 2 pilot from Crossover so [they] ended it there".
- Smash History (August 26, 2014 - July 23, 2016) is a show by Drake McWhorter that focuses on developing and Super Smash Bros. content. for Nintendo 3DS and Wii U . According to McWhorter, the show was canceled because "it's not of high quality, the Smash hype is dead, and it's not an educational show." In early November 2016 all episodes were made private and McWhorter himself did not know the reason. Therefore, he started uploading the series on his channel Trailer on November 9, 2016.
- Short History (February 4, 2013 - August 24, 2017 at The Game Theorists , still at FootofaFerret ) is an event hosted by Ryder Burgin which covers the entire development of the game series in a very fast way. It starts on the YouTube channel FootofaFerret and partly moves to The Game Theorists on April 20, 2015. In the August 24, 2017 episode, Burgin announces that the episode will be the last episode on > The Game Theorists and the series will fully return to FootofaFerret .
- DeadLock (February 17, 2015 -) is a show by Matthew Patrick who pitted two video game concepts with each other to show their flaws and strengths. Each episode usually features Patrick and other members of The Game Theorists who debate these concepts. Two special episodes show Patrick arguing against Reggie Fils-Aim's Nintendo of America . The first was released on June 25, 2016 with them arguing for motion control reasons compared to traditional controls in the series The Legend of Zelda and the second was released on January 28, 2017 with them arguing if Nintendo had to keep making consoles. Starting January 28, 2018, there are eleven episodes of the show.
- Break Down (December 25, 2015 - August 1, 2017) is a show by Forrest Lee (tehFurst) similar to Brief History talks about the development of the video game series. The last episode was uploaded on August 1, 2017. On October 6, 2017, all episodes of the show have been removed from The Game Theorists due to an agreement at the time of the launch that the episode was Lee's content and will therefore be placed on his channel. Starting January 28, 2018, no episodes were uploaded to Lee's channel.
- SCIENCE! (January 29, 2016 -) is a show by Austin Hourigan that takes separate video games with science and logic. It started on the YouTube channel ShoddyCast , the first video on The Game Theorists uploaded on December 21, 2016.

Film Theory Experts
On May 12, 2014, Patrick created a second channel called The Theoretical Movie where he debuted his second show, Film Theory . The first video was uploaded on June 2, 2015, focusing on the science of the TV series Doctor Who . Film Theory follows the same formula as Game Theory , but in relation to movies and film series and industry, not games. Within a month after the first episode, The Theoretical Film reached one million subscribers.
Like The Game Theorists , The Theoretical Movies is the host of the spin-off event.

- Frame by Frame (June 9, 2015 - July 25, 2017) by Kyle Adams from the YouTube channel PwnageShow is a show that analyzes film techniques. The latest episode is called "How Spielberg Make Cutting!... Guide to Transition Scenes" uploaded on July 25, 2017. Since August 26, 2017, only one episode is still available on the channel.
- Legends movie (February 18, 2017 -) by the creator of the YouTube channel Wisecrack is an event organized by Jacob Salamon who evaluates movies in various categories to rank and thus find the best film of all time.

MatPat's Game Lab
On June 8, 2016, Patrick posted via his YouTube channel his new show, MatPat's Game Lab , on Google's paid subscription service, YouTube Red. The event primarily focuses on placing video game players in real-life scenarios that mimic scenarios that occur in video games, such as bombing, parkour, and military training.
GTLive
Patrick started the Let's Play series called GTLive on August 26, 2015 where he streamed most of the game with his wife Stephanie and then uploaded it to the GTLive archive channel he created on September 14, 2015. Streaming is usually done at 4 pm PST. Regular guest appearances on the river include Jason, producer of GTLive, co-producer Chris, who became part of the flow after standing for Jason during his marriage, Patricks' Skip cat, also known as "CatPat," Peepachu, a pillow in the shape of yellow Peep, rabbit and plushie llama, referred to as "Drama Llama". The recurring themes of this live stream include "Mario Maker Wednesday" (abbr. "MMW"), "Motion-Control Thursday" and "Scary Games Friday" (abbr. "TGISGF" for "Thank God It's Scary Games Friday"), - sometimes known as "Spoopy Games Friday". A common feature is the 'clap-and-half' that Patrick reclaimed from the seventh grade IPS teacher. On one live stream, they use Verizon's in-game Minecraft phone to order pizza and pick up the world's "biggest selfie".
Starting October 3, 2016, the Monday stream became part of the PrimeTime YouTube Game and is therefore scheduled for 15:00 to 17:00 PST. This also includes a voting mechanism, which Patrick can use to conduct a quick poll.
Starting in 2016, GTLive streams an average of five days per week, gathering around 80,000 to 110,000 total viewers for each stream.
On April 3, 2017, Patrick announced that the event would run briefly until April 25, 2017, due to VidCon Europe and looking for a different filming location. Due to VidCon Australia, the show stopped again on September 4, 2017 and was returned on September 26, 2017.

Magical Skills Level
Patrick is very involved in the web series, TOME: Terrain of Magical Expertise in many ways.
First, he gets more attention and exposure by uploading a re-mastered version of the first episode on the channel on October 1, 2013. On October 31, 2013, the second episode, Mansion Midnight, was uploaded. According to Chris Niosi, the creator of the series, the episode is uploaded to the channel and he is given a monthly income cut because he can not make money from Google AdSense on his YouTube channel. Within two months, the show was withdrawn from the channel and the episode was deleted. Niosi states that the reason behind this is because it does not look as good as it was projected in the first two episodes. In February 2017, Patrick stated in the GTLive episode that "YouTube will not let [video] be monetized because [...] 'others have this video'. [...] This also deviates too much from what we do because [...] has nothing to do with education and games. "
Patrick, also many of Theorists Game, also contributed characters and speech phrases as TOME caricatures themselves in the adaptation of RPG video games in his works. Patrick's character, Mattheorist, features qualities such as Green Lantern with the ability to manifest projectiles and green energy creatures.
Collaboration
Patrick has collaborated with many channels, featuring them as a guest on his own show, or displayed on their own. He has done a lot of voice-over work for video game-based blogs Did You Know Gaming? , including episodes in Portal , Super Mario and Five Nights at Freddy's . He often screams the Wisecrack channel at the end of the Movie Theory video. Patrick also plays at Random Encounters' FNAF: The Musical , and voices Bendy in Bendy and the Ink Musical from the same channel. He has also collaborated with Pureness by Purina in Pet-U-Cation video. MatPat also appeared on one of Julian Smith's videos as a post office worker.
Patrick also works with many clients, including Samsung, Warner Bros, Ubisoft, Defy Media, and YouTube.
Many internet personalities have done voice-works for various Patrick shows, such as Austin Hargrave (PeanutButterGamer) and Jonathan Jafari, and Arin Hanson (Egoraptor) and Dan Avidan (Ninja Sex Party) from the web series Game Grumps
In the popular web series Death Battle by ScrewAttack, Patrick voiced Keith Kogane from the Voltron franchise in the episode â ⬠Å"Power Rangers vs Voltronâ â¬.
In 2017, Matthew Patrick and his wife Stephanie Patrick participate in the Nintendo Pokécà © n Tournament DX Invitational, an event held during E3 2017. She is paired with Allister Singh, the only player Pokémon mon Pokémon at the event. His team finally won the tournament. In the tournament, Patrick plays as Empoleon, while his wife Stephanie Patrick plays Scizor.
Patrick married Stephanie Cordato, whom she met while at Duke University. The two became close after making a parody of the Legend of Zelda called The Epic of Stew . The couple married on May 19, 2012 in North Carolina. The couple has a cat named Skip, who sometimes makes appearances in live stream and is also known as 'CatPat'.
On March 12, 2018, Matthew and Stephanie announced the pregnancy of Stephanie, the baby boy who matured July 4, 2018.
