Careers

In 2006, at the age of 17, Becker posted the video "Animator vs. Animation" to the Newgrounds sharing site, where the video quickly became viral and caused it to be re-uploaded on various media sites. Becker almost sold the exclusive rights to his animation for $ 75 but decided against it; heed the advice of Steven Lerner, owner of Albino Blacksheep. Later he found that the animation was uploaded to the Ebaums World site without permission (whose site is famous for re-uploading other people's content without the manufacturer's consent). After Steven Lerner used this as evidence in a legal battle against Ebaums World, Becker received a $ 250 payment for the use of animation. However, after a change of heart, he returned the money and removed the animation.

The Atom film persuaded Becker to make a sequel after the success of his first animation, so he made "Animator vs. Animation II" and, after several requests, made "Animator vs. Animation III" before continuing to work on another project. In 2007 Charles Yeh offered to create an animated game and after seeing his impressive work, Alan agreed to collaborate with him. Becker intends to make the final third iteration in the series, stating that he "wants to make sure that no sequel can get out of it" by ending the video with a blue screen of death, as if the computer is dead and the animated series can no longer go any further. But he has stated that his animation teacher has inspired him to continue on YouTube. Her fourth video, "Animator vs. Animation IV", received over $ 11,000 in crowdfunding at Kickstarter.

Becker recently created works related to Minecraft video games such as "Animation vs. Minecraft" videos and world maps based on Studio Ghibli's My Neighbor Totoro movie.

Becker also created a series of "how-to" animation videos based on the "12 basic principles of animation" uploaded on his secondary YouTube channel "Alan Becker Tutorials". The most popular videos on the channel are Animation vs. Minecraft, which has over 93 million views.

On November 21, 2017, Becker announced that he worked with Insanity Games to create card games based on his animation. The estimated release date for the card game is in May 2018.

Starting on November 18, 2017, Alan Becker has created a new Minecraft short animation due to the fact that Animation vs. Minecraft received more attention, beating Animator vs. Animation as the most viewed video on its channel.
