Robert Pickering Burnham (born August 21, 1990) is an American comedian, singer-songwriter, musician, rapper, actor, director, screenwriter, and poet. He started his performance career as YouTuber in March 2006, and his video has been viewed over 214 million times in December 2017.
Burnham signed a four-year record deal with Comedy Central Records and released his debut EP, Bo Fo Sho , in 2008. His first full-length album, Bo Burnham , was released the following year. In 2010, Burnham's second album was released, and Words Words Words , his first special comedy comedy, aired on Comedy Central. Her third album and a special second comedy, what. , released in 2013 on her YouTube channel and Netflix. Burnham finished first overall in a vote at Comedy Central Stand-up Showdown 2011. The third special stand-up comedy, Make Happy , was released exclusively on Netflix on June 3, 2016.
In addition to his career as a comedian, Burnham co-created and starred in the MTV television series Zach Stone Will Become Famous and released his first poetry book, Egghead: Or, You Can Save from the Alone Idea in 2013. His first feature film as a writer and director, Eighth Grade , will be released in July 2018.

Burnham was born in Hamilton, Massachusetts, the youngest of three children from Scott Burnham, a construction company owner, and Patricia, a nurse at the Burnham school. Described in The Boston Globe as "simultaneously healthy and disturbing, intimate in a sort of disgusting person", Burnham wrote and released songs about white supremacy, disability Helen Keller, homosexuality, and more. All the videos released at Burnham's home were recorded themselves in and around his family's home in Hamilton, Massachusetts, mostly in his bedroom, and had deliberate "feelings", almost like voyeurism. Burnham's music and performances deal with subjects such as race, gender, human sexuality, sex, and religion. Burnham described the persona on stage as "a more arrogant and arrogant version of himself". While talking to The Detroit News about his rap, he expressed his intention to honor and respect the perspectives and culture of hip-hop music.
Represented by Douglas Edley, Burnham recorded a show in London for Comedy Central's The World Stands Up in January 2008 (aired June 30, 2008), and signed a four-record contract with Comedy Central Records. Comedy Central Records released the first EP of Burnham, six songs of Bo Fo Sho, as a special release album online on June 17, 2008. Burnham's first full album, entitled Boelfham , released on March 10, 2009.
Burnham has performed music in the United States, including the Cobb Comedy Club, YouTube Live in San Francisco, and the Caroline Comedy Club in New York City, and internationally in London and Montreal. In August 2010, Burnham was nominated for "Best Comedy Show" at the Edinburgh Comedy Awards 2010 after her first appearance (from Bo Burnham: Words, Words, Words). Instead, he received a "Panel Prize", a prize of £ 5,000 for "the show or action that captured the comedy of Fringe 2010".
Burnham's first experience with the controversy over his music came on March 3, 2009, when fifteen Westminster College students (members of the Gay-Straight Alliance campus, Black Student Association, International Club and Cultural Diversity Organization) protested his concert there that night. From the controversy, he said, "It's very ironic because gay bashers are the ones who label me in high school... I try and write a well-meaning satire but that intention has to be hidden.Can not really clear. which made him comedic. While performing at the Montreal Just for Laughs festival in 2008, Burnham met with director and producer Judd Apatow. In September, Burnham negotiated with Universal Pictures to write and create music for the Apatow production comedy he described as "High School Musical", although Burnham insisted that scripts were not parodies. from Disney musicals, but attempts to emulate the high school he attended. Hoping to star in the movie he was writing, Burnham told Wired magazine that he named the "Bo" star in "the less subtle hint [he] wants [s] to be in it". In a March 2009 interview with Boston's Weekly Dig , Burnham outlined his work with the film. When he does not perform, Burnham spends eight hours a day writing music, and at night writing a script, which he has completed the first draft. Writes together scenarios with Burnham is his high school friend, Luke Liacos. In an interview in October 2010 with MTV, Burnham admitted that he did not know anything about the future of the project, and that everything was effectively in the air as far as he knew. In May 2009, viral marketing started appearing for Funny People , where Burnham starred in the NBC sitcom called Yo Teach! Burnham wrote and directed his first film, Eighth Grade , produced and distributed by A24 and aired at the Sundance Film Festival in January 2018.
