Michelle Phan (born April 11, 1987) is an American make-up artist, entrepreneur, and voice actress who became an important YouTube character. The Phan YouTube channel has over 8.9 million subscribers, 1.1 billion views for life, and 385 uploaded videos.

Michelle Phan was born on April 11, 1987, in Boston, Massachusetts. He has a younger brother and sister. Phan and his family moved to Tampa, Florida where he attended Tampa Bay Technical College. Phan attended Ringling College of Art and Design. In March 2014, Ringling gave Phan a Doctorate of Honorary Art.

In 2005, Phan had a personal blog where he discussed different cosmetology tutorials and received requests for further instructions. He started posting a vlog tutorial on Xanga with the user name Ricebunny and then started publishing on YouTube in May 2007.
He patterned production styles to Bob Ross: "There's something magical about narration and voiceover, recording dubbing is the art form itself."
BuzzFeed featured two "How To Get Lady Gaga's Eyes" makeup tutorials in 2009 and 2010, helping them become viral and bring in more than one million subscribers. Phan became a YouTube advertising partner and launched FAWN, the YouTube MCN (multi-channel network), in 2012.
In 2010, LancÃÆ'Â'me made Phan their official make-up video artist after he presented some of their products on his videos. He became their first Vietnamese spokesman, acting as Lancome's representative not only in the United States but also around the world. In 2011, Phan established "MyGlam", a monthly beauty subscription service, which has since been renamed "ipsy", launched in September 2012. ipsy is the sponsor of "Generation Beauty", a Phan-assisted beauty conference. On August 15, 2013, L'Oreal launched a new cosmetic line called em by Michelle Phan, dedicating the brand to her mother.
In May 2014, Phan announced a partnership with Endemol Beyond USA to build a talent network to showcase people from YouTube and create content for the millennial generation. The ICON network, dedicated to "beauty, lifestyle and entertainment", was launched in March 2015 online and on television via Roku.
In September 2014, Phan partnered with Cutting Edge Group (CEG) to launch Shift Music Group. Phan also launched a book with Random House in October 2014, titled Make Up: Your Life Guide for Beauty, Style and Success - Online and Off .
In 2014, Phan's YouTube channel is listed on New Media Rockstars ' Top 100 Channels, ranked # 48.
In 2015, Phan was named for Inc. 30 under 30 and Forbes 30 under 30 list. That same year, Phan collected $ 100 million to reward Ipsy company with more than $ 500 million.

Copyright infringement violations
In July 2014, Ultra Records sued Phan at the United States District Court for Los Angeles for copyright infringement regarding the music used in his YouTube video. Ultra seeks up to $ 150,000 in damage per violation of up to 50 alleged infringement cases, totaling up to $ 7.5 million. Phan's representative stated that he has received permission from Ultra to use the music, and Phan filed a counter-claim against Ultra Records on September 18, 2014 in the United States District Court for the Central District of California.
In August 2015, the lawsuit and lawsuit were canceled, with both parties agreeing to settle out of court. Terms of the agreement are not published.
