Passenger is the second nomination and a nominated Music Award from Irish singer/songwriter Lisa Hannigan. The album was released in the US and Canada on September 20, 2011 and in the Republic of Ireland on October 7, 2011 (brought forward from the scheduled date, October 21st). This LP has 11 new tracks.
The album was released alone in Ireland and the UK through its label, Hoop Records. The album was released in North America via Barp-ATO Records and later for Europe in 2012 on PIAS Recordings.
In 2012 it was awarded a silver certification award from the Association of Independent Music Companies, which showed sales of at least 20,000 copies across Europe.

Recording
Writing for the album starts at the end of 2009 and throughout 2010 in Ireland and the United States. In March 2011, Hannigan revealed the song "A Sail" as part of "Recording Diaries" recorded during an album recording in Wales. Available from his YouTube page "Recording Diaries" gives fans the chance to go behind making new albums. "A Sail" will be released on its website in August 2011 as a free download. The album was released in Ireland later on as Hannigan was on tour throughout the US in September and early October. On the song "O Sleep" it features vocals Ray LaMontagne.

The first song available from the album "A Sail" was released as a free download in August 2011 from lisahannigan.ie . The first official single from the album is "Knots", it was released as a download on September 12, 2011 in Europe.

Critical reception
Entertainment.ie gave a 4/5 star album claiming that it was "hard to hold the attraction." Similarly, The Scotsman gives a 4/5 star album stating that it is "rich and (a) appreciative of listening." The Irish Times gave the album another 4/5 stars. On the front page of the 7Digital download service, Tippy Wooder, a contributor to British music magazine The Word, described Passengers as "thriving on the promise of Sea Sew, with travel (emotional and actual) into recurring themes".
Tour
US and Canadian US Lisa Tours started on September 27, 2011 in Los Angeles which he performed for seventeen dates, on this tour. In early October he announced several European dates (starting in the UK) and, on October 13, 2011, the remaining leg of Ireland from a European tour was announced.
