Philip Michael "Phil" Lester (born January 30, 1987) is an English-language YouTuber and former radio personality from Rawtenstall in the Rossendale valley, Lancashire. He's famous for his YouTube channel AmazingPhil . Together with frequent collaborator Daniel Howell, Lester presented the night entertainment show Dan and Phil on BBC Radio 1 from January 2013 to August 2014, and from September 2014 to April 2016 the duo were monthly hosts at the station > Internet Takeover slot.

Lester was born and raised in Rawtenstall. He has an older brother, Martyn, who now owns IRL Digital, a company that designs and sells various YouTuber merchandises, with Phil and Daniel Howell.
Before he created a blogging and radio video featuring his profession, Lester worked as a guard dog, as a car washer, doing work experience in veterinary clinics, working at WHSmith, and playing Tim at Faintheart . She and Martyn attend the Bacup and Rawtenstall Grammar School. He then graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree with Honors in English and Linguistics in 2008 and a Master of Arts in Post-Production Video with Visual Effects in 2009, both from the University of York.

At the age of 19 on March 27, 2006, Lester posted his first YouTube vlog entitled "Phil's Video Blog" on his main YouTube channel, AmazingPhil . Since then he has posted more than 200 videos on his channel and as of May 2017 has more than 4.2 million subscribers and 520 million video views. He reached 1 million YouTube subscribers on July 6, 2013, 2 million on August 29, 2014, 3 million on October 12, 2015, and 4 million on March 14, 2017.
Lester also has a second channel, LessAmazingPhil , which has more than 1 million subscribers and 31 million views, as of May 2017. He currently broadcasts live weekly broadcasts throughout the hour on this channel, as well as on YouNow.
From 2009 to 2011, Lester participated in Ireland's cross-media event, ApartmentRed .
In 2010, Lester and Howell took part in a 24-hour live broadcast every day "Stickaid", fundraising for UNICEF charities.
Lester also appeared with Howell in the twelve-part web series Benjamin Cook Became a YouTube , and was interviewed on various topics that Cook discussed.
On September 12, 2014, Lester and Howell posted the first video on their new YouTube game channel, DanandPhilGAMES. On March 8, 2015, the channel reached 1 million subscribers. It's officially the fastest growing channel on YouTube. DanAndPhilGAMES currently has over 3 million subscribers.
On April 1, 2015, Lester and Howell launched an artificial craft based channel, DanAndPhilCRAFTS , as an April Fool's joke. It featured one video of them creating a square snowflake from the paper, with amateur style editing and humor throughout. It reaches over 154,000 subscribers and 500,000 views in one week. Additional videos uploaded on April Fools in 2016 and 2017.
Super Amazing Project
In 2011, Lester and Howell created a collaborative YouTube channel through My Damn Channel's network. Titled The Super Amazing Project , it featured a duo discussing and investigating paranormal events. Segments include "Viewers Spooky Happenings", where event viewers will send "scary" items for video bloggers to react, and "In The News This Week", where the duo recap recently light news and viral video. In October 2014, it was announced that in that month Lester and Howell would not continue working on The Super Amazing Project to concentrate on their Radio 1 show. Lester and Howell then announced that the Super Amazing Project will be hosted by new presenters, Alastair James Murder and Victoria Atkin, found by the owner of the channel My Damn Channel.
Radio
In November 2012, the BBC announced that from January 2013 onwards, Lester and Howell will present Sunday night entertainment and ask for performances for the British national radio station BBC Radio 1. This duo sometimes works with Radio 1 before, making videos for YouTube stations distributing and presenting two Christmas broadcasts.
The show is designed to be an interactive, audio-visual broadcast involving music videos created by viewers, the physical challenges done in the air by Howell and Lester, and song requests from listeners. It's streamed in video, directly on the BBC Radio 1 website, and accessible worldwide.
In August 2014, it was announced that Dan and Phil's last show will be aired on August 24th, with the duo moving to a different event on Monday night, featuring another popular blogger video. The new show is titled Internet Takeover , and shows Lester with Howell directly on the first Monday of each month, before it ends in April 2016.
The Amazing Ongoing Book of Flames and The Amazing Tour Happened
On March 26, 2015, Lester and Howell announced via a trailer on Howell's channel that they had written together a book entitled "The Amazing Ongoing Fire Book (TABINOF). Launched in the UK on October 8, 2015 and worldwide on October 15, 2015, published by Ebury Press and Random House Children's Books. The book is at the top of the Best Hard Sunday book list after selling 26,745 copies in the UK in its first week of release. It also became New York Times # 1 Bestsellers on the list of young adult hardcover.
In the same trailer, the couple announced their theatrical stage of The Amazing Tour Is Not on Fire (TATINOF) traveling around the UK during October and November 2015, ending with a show at London Palladium. During the tour, they sang the original song "The Internet Is Here", which was later released as a charity single for Stand Up To Cancer, resulting in a golden disc for the sale of the song.
In 2016, they take a tour of the US and Toronto, starting with a show in Orlando, Florida on April 22 and ending on June 24 with a show at the Dolby Theater in Hollywood, California. This is the biggest tour ever achieved by YouTube creators. They then toured Australia in August 2016, starting in Perth and ending in Brisbane, and completing a tour with European legs, performing in Stockholm, Berlin, and Dublin.
YouTube Red Originals and Dan and Phil Go Outside
In October 2016, The Amazing Tour is Not on Fire was released as a Red Original YouTube movie with the same name as the documentary, Dan and Phil's Story of TATINOF . They are the first British YouTube creators to release content on the YouTube Red platform.
Along with these films, they released a photo book, And Dan and Phil Go Outside , in November 2016, which included a private collection of candid photographs and insightful stories from the tour.
Introvert Interactive
In November 2017, Lester and Howell announced their second tour, Introvert Interactive , a world tour that will take place in 2018.
Other media
In 2007, Lester appeared as a contestant on The Weakest Link, making him the final round. She also played Tim's role in the 2008 movie Faintheart and appeared in the Confused.com commercial later that year. When creating ads, he has about 27,000 subscribers.
Lester was interviewed with other internet entertainers on Channel 4 News in October 2012 about the increasing popularity of YouTube and video blogging as a profession.
In 2013 Lester and Howell appeared on Friday Download, the award-winning CBBC TV CBBC show.
From 2014-2016 Howell and Lester host live YouTube Music Awards worldwide and create backstage videos for their channel.
By 2015, Lester and Howell have cameo sound appearances in UK cinemas releasing from Walt Disney Animation Studios' Big Hero 6 as Technician 1 & amp; 2. However, this version does not exist in the UK home release. In the same year, the duo also starred in the online series YouTuber PJ Liguori, Oscar's Hotel for Fantastical Creatures, voiced the anthropomorphic food of Brie and Rash.
In December 2016, Howell and Lester voiced two gorilla princes named Majinuni and Hafifu, in the episode "The Lost Gorillas" at Disney Junior The Lion Guard .
Personal life
Lester has lived with friend and fellow YouTuber Daniel Howell since August 2011, first in Manchester before moving to London together in July 2012. They have shared a total of three homes and often appear in their respective videos.
Awards and nominations
In 2011, Lester won the Guinness World Record for the fastest coin deposition, placing 25 coins on top of each other in 31,617 seconds.
