Gavin David Free (born ( 1988-05-23 23 May 1988) is an English actor, director, cinematographer, and internet personality. He is best known for his work on Rooster Teeth - where he previously served as creative director - featuring on many of their projects, including the Achievement Finder game division. He directed 7th season from Red vs. Blue , and miniseries are Relocated .
Free is also known as the creator and co-host of the YouTube-based web series The Slow Mo Guys , with his friend Daniel Gruchy. The series features slow motion footage of various actions and experiments, collecting in November 2017 more than 1.2 billion since its launch in 2010. In April 2011, the channel was voted the winner of the YouTube On The Rise program. In September 2012, their episodes involving the destruction of watermelons are featured on the The Tonight Show . Free has appeared with Gruchy in the annual series of YouTube Rewind since 2013. Free nominated for Webby Award in the category of Best Web Personality/Host (Film & Video Online) for his work on The Slow Mo Guys on April 5, 2016.
Her acting roles included Woody on the Lazer Team and her sequel, Vav in the animated comedy series X-Ray and Vav, and Scarlet David at RWBY. He is also known for his slow motion cinematography films, including Hot Fuzz (2007), Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows (2011), Snow White and the Huntsman (2012), and Dredd (2012). Free has also worked on slow motion footage for the BBC's Top Gear show. In 2016 Streaming Awards, Free win for Cinematography.
Early life
Free was born at Thame in Oxfordshire where attending Lord Williams School.
In 2006, he joined Green Door Films, the first production house in Europe to use Phantom's high-speed digital cameras as a slow-motion source, working as a data engineer and camera operator. He has worked on advertising and music videos for U2, Enter Shikari, Klaxons, Kasabian, The Chemical Brothers, X-Press 2, and "Allbody Hurts" single charity.
Free also works at the local Waitrose, where he meets Daniel Gruchy.

Red vs. Blue and Slow Mo Guys : 2009-2010
In 2009, he was hired by Austin, Texas based Rooster Teeth Productions to direct the seventh season of their Machinima series Red & Blue. Free also redirects the mini-series Relocated . She acted in the mini comedy series Rooster Teeth Captain Dynamic and started appearing on Rooster Teeth Shorts in the same year.
In 2010, he created The Slow Mo Guys along with friend Daniel Gruchy to get a work visa. The Slow Mo Guys are mostly made up of various objects that were filmed using Free Phantom's Free cameras. As of November 2017, their YouTube channel has collected over 1.2 billion views and 9.7 million subscribers. In April 2011, this channel was selected as the winner of the YouTube program On The Rise , which highlights YouTube partners already on the homepage. In September 2012, they are featured on The Tonight Show . In February 2013, Free announced that The Slow Mo Guys had been taken by Rooster Teeth and subsequent episodes of the series would be released on the Rooster Teeth website, as well as the YouTube channels in the series.

Personal life
Free has been in contact with Meg Turney since 2013. On January 26, 2018, a crazy fan broke into Austin Free and Turney's home armed with a gun, and fired a single shot while both hid in the closet and contacted the authorities. The suspect was intercepted by police at the entrance and after a firefight was fired by one of the officers. The gunman, an obsessed fan of Turney's, reportedly upset about Free fame and relationships, and drove 11 hours from Albuquerque to the couple's home. Free and Turney was not injured in the incident.
Free is a spirited supporter of Tottenham Hotspur F.C.
