Kyrre GÃÆ'¸rvell-Dahll ( Norway: Ã, ['kyrre' gÃÆ'¸: rvell d? h: ll] , born September 11, 1991), better known by his stage name Kygo ( ; Norwegian: Ã, ['ky: uu] , written as KYGO and ? ), is a Norwegian DJ, record producer, musician and songwriter.

He received international attention with a remix of "I See Fire" by Ed Sheeran, who has received more than 55 million dramas in SoundCloud and 65 million views on YouTube and the single "Firestone" which has more than 500 million views on YouTube with an additional 560 million playing in the Spotify music streaming service, in August 2017. Kygo has amassed over 2.5 billion views of music on SoundCloud and YouTube.

Kygo has released several singles, such as "Stole the Show", "Here for You", "Stay", and "It Is not Me", which has debuted on several international charts. Kygo Cloud Nine's debut album was released on May 13, 2016. He made history on August 21, 2016 at the 2016 Rio Olympics, when he became the first home music producer to perform at the Olympic closing ceremony. In March 2018, Billboard named Kygo as number three in the 2018 ranking of their dance musician Billboard Dance 100.

Early life and career

Kygo was born September 11, 1991 as a foreigner in Singapore, the son of Kjersti Gjerde, a dentist, and Lars GÃÆ'¸rvell-Dahll, an overseas worker in the maritime industry. She has an older sister Mads, two older sisters Johanne and Jenny, and Sondre's younger stepbrother. During his childhood, he lived and traveled with his family in Brazil, Japan, Kenya and Egypt.

Kygo started getting piano lessons at the age of 6 years. He quit when he was 15 or 16 years old and started producing music with Logic Studio and MIDI keyboard while watching some tutorials on YouTube. When he decided to pursue full-time music, he was halfway to business and finance at Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh, Scotland. He has quoted Swedish DJ Avicii as his main inspiration.

2014: Breakthrough

On May 15, 2013, Kygo released her first single titled "Epsilon" on the record label Romania Ensis Records. After that, on December 1, 2014, he released the single "Firestone", featuring vocals from Conrad (mononim to Conrad Sewell), which earned international recognition and debuted on several charts worldwide. After receiving over 80 million views on YouTube and SoundCloud, Kygo was contacted by Avicii and by Chris Martin from Coldplay to make remixes of the song "Midnight". 2015-2016: Cloud Nine and Kygo Life AS

In early March 2016, Kygo announced that his debut studio album will be released on May 13, 2016, under the title Cloud Nine . The second single came out on April 1, 2016, and was called "Raging", which featured vocals from Irish band Kodaline and also co-written by James Bay. The debut studio album Kygo was released on May 13, 2016. Other collaborations revealed include Parson James, Tom Odell, Kodaline, Conrad Sewell, Legend John, James Vincent McMorrow, Foxes, Rhodes, Matt Corby, Maty Noyes, Julia Michaels and Angus and Julia Stone.

Kygo launched a new lifestyle brand named Kygo Life on August 17, 2016. This brand consists of two collections of fashion and casual clothing, in addition to hardware such as headphones. Kygo Life is currently only available in Europe, the United States and Canada.

She performed "Carry Me" with American singer and songwriter Julia Michaels at the closing ceremony of the 2016 Summer Olympics on August 21 at the MaracanÃÆ'Â £ Stadium in Rio de Janeiro, as part of a segment that promotes the launch of the new Olympic channel after the Games.

On April 28, 2017, Kygo released their second single from EP, "First Time", with British singer Ellie Goulding.

On September 15, 2017, Kygo re-released U2's song "You're The Best Thing About Me", which was also released as a collaboration single with the band.

On October 19, 2017, Kygo announced via Facebook that her second studio album called Kids in Love , which was released on November 3rd. On October 20, 2017, he released the single song and the main title "Kids in Love", featuring The Night Game. Shortly after the release of the album, Kygo announced the Children's Love Tour. Stage name

Kygo's artist name can be pronounced as ( Norwegian pronunciation: Ã, [ky :? U:] ) for Norwegian speakers , and for English speakers. Both pronunciations can be used interchangeably. Kyrre got the idea for his stage name through the name of the user he received in high school for hislearning digital learning platform . This service uses parts of its name to make a nickname, thereof "Ky-" stands for the first two letters in the given name "Kyrre", and "-go" for the first two letters in the last name "GÃÆ'¸rvell- Dahll". The letters ÃÆ'¸ are usually replaced with the letter o in computing. In an interview with the newspaper Fanaposten , Kyrre was quoted; "Kygo [as artist's name] is absolutely perfect.It's easy to say, both in Norwegian and English. [And] I do not need to change the artist's name [in the future]".

In June 2016, NRK said that Kygo "gave 50 000 USD [...] of the profits [his festival on 20 August]" to Frank Mugisha; Kygo is quoted: "Everyone should be allowed to live with someone's sexual orientation.That is not the situation in Uganda and some other countries around the world".
