"Let's Get Rocked " was a 1992 single by the English hard rock band Def Leppard from their multi-platinum album Adrenalize . The song reached # 1 on the Billboard chart of Rock Tracks, # 15 on Billboard Hot 100 and # 2 on the UK Singles Chart.

Background and release

Lead vocalist Joe Elliott claims the song is about the popular cartoon character Bart Simpson who disobeyed his parents' orders and also told Joe's own story as a child. He also stated people from the band's hometown of Sheffield, England would understand the lyrics better than anyone else.

Also, according to Joe Elliott's statement on "Rock of Ages" and "Best Of" compilation albums, the song is a runaway since the band worked on the song "White Lightning" and felt like doing something to brighten the mood. According to the band, this song and "White Lightning" are the last two songs recorded for this album.

This song has been a live fixture on all band tours since its release and is still done regularly to this day. This is one of only two songs by the band released after 1980 to hold the distinction of being a 'setlist staple' (the other being 1993's "Two Steps Behind").

Music video

The song is accompanied by an advanced computer animated music video, which is believed to be one of the most innovative CG music videos made together with "Money for Nothing" by Dire Straits, both directed by Steve Barron. The video consisted of a band playing in a computer-generated stadium on a flaming LED stage in the form of a British flag, along with a CGI animated scene featuring a character named Flynn, based on Bart Simpson according to lead singer Joe Elliott. Flynn is seen in various moments of typical days of teenage life, which includes being berated by his father for performing the duties, or sexual activity of his girlfriend.

This video is not only the first band without Steve Clark, who died years before, but their video is only as four parts. Guitarist Vivian Campbell has not been chosen to replace Clark. Thus, the early live performances of the song were as four sections before Campbell joined the band.

In popular culture

The song was used in the 1992 movie Encino Man (but did not appear on the soundtrack) and the 2001 film Rock Star . It was used to promote the NBC comedy series 30 Rock .
