The Junkies Screen is an online movie magazine and YouTube channel, owned and operated by Defy Media, which focuses on movies and television. The Screen Junkies produced three main events: The Screen Junkies Show (hosted by Hal Rudnick, most of whom were interviews and film discussions); Honest Trailers (series of trailers, narrated previously by Ptolemy Slocum and Gannon Nickell, and current by Jon Bailey, who quipped and parodied various movies and television programs); and Movie Fights (a series of competitions, where guests debate issues related to film). On October 21, 2016, the ClevverMovies channel announced that it would rebrand Screen Junkies News on November 1, 2016. Roth Cornet was chosen to serve as editor-in-chief. Screen Junkies News, focuses on news-related programming, but also includes unrelated news programs.

Honest Trailers is a series of emotated movie parodies of Emmy, and sometimes TV shows, made for insinuating movies. This video was narrated by Jon Bailey.

Created by Andy Signore and Brett Weiner and led by Break Media Programming Chief Mitch Rotter, Honest Trailers debuted in February 2012 and in June 2014 has been the source of over 300 million views on the YouTube Screen Junkies channel. The series begins when the creators see that Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace is being re-released in 3D and decides to make a parody trailer for him, continuing the series as a result of the positive reception of the received video. The series received a Primetime Emmy Award nomination for Outstanding Short Form Variety Series at the 68th and 69th Emmy Awards.

This series of videos takes about a week to be assembled, and is usually made by about four people. The creators watched the movie several times before writing the script as a group. Subjects are selected by the combination of today's popular movies and audience suggestions, with the aim of making videos viral. Although Signore says that they want to cover more television shows, they have not done much because of the increased time commitment because the team has to watch every episode of the series versus the movie.

The series was first told by comedian Ptolemy Slocum who only told the first video. The next dozen are narrated by Gannon Nickell (with the exception of one for Avatar , narrated by Dough Medlock), before he enlisted in the military and Jon Bailey replaced him. Though started as a direct copy of a typical sound movie trailer, Bailey's narrative voice has become more of a parody over time, using different styles for various genres that are insinuated.

Signore's co-creator says that he wants celebrities to narrate for their own episode of Honest Trailers, explaining that he wants to have someone who "understands what we do and enjoys and is willing to make fun of themselves". This finally happened in May 2016, when they were able to get Ryan Reynolds to tell the Trailer Truthfully Deadpool in character as a movie titular character, known for breaking the fourth wall. Reynolds imitated his role as Deadpool for the Honest Trailer for Logan , the 200th series video.

The 100th video series, for 50 Shades of Gray , was released in May 2015. In January 2017, The Honest Trailer for Titanic was the most viewed , with over 40 million views.

Not all videos speak negatively about their movie; for Captain America: The Winter Soldier, contrary to the typical style, the creators find it difficult to raise negative points and admit that the movie is good. Co-director Joe Russo said that he has a series in mind when filming, and aims to make the movie "Honest Trailer-proof".

The head writer Honest Trailers is Spencer Gilbert, who also appears in Movie Fights.

The Screen Junkies Show covers a wide range of topics in movies and television. Some episodes include interviews with actors, "supercuts" (compilations), and information and updates on movies. The Screen Junkies Show is hosted by Hal Rudnick, and created by Andy Signore, Brett Weiner, and Mitch Rotter.

Movie Fights

"Movie Fights", usually hosted by Signore until its termination in October 2017, features a debate between three other people inside or outside Screen Junkies, like other YouTube reviewers, on movie-related questions. This segment lasts for about one and a half hours, with the first five rounds being a round table debate, and the last round is "Quick Round". Each round will start with a question, and each contestant should make an argument as to why their answer is best. The speed rotation consists of five questions, and each contestant has fifteen seconds to make a claim on their answer and ten seconds to give their rebuttal against their opponent. When a contestant wins a lap or a speedrun question, they win a point and the person who finishes the game with the most points wins. In the game titled "Ultimate Game of Thrones Spin-off Movie?" posted on April 12, 2015, Murrell became the first Film Fights Champion after winning his first title fight, held until July 13, 2017 when he lost the "Showstopper" competition with Spencer Gilbert soon after defending the Belt in the battle tournament. In order to become the next Movie Fights champion, a contestant is required either to defeat the current champion in a title fight match that occurs if the current champion wants to "put a belt on the line", or win a special "Last Man Standing" fight in which some contestants fight in the format knock out to win "Showstopper", a box with 5 speedround questions, so contestants can challenge the current champion for a speedround game using the speedround questions found in "Showstopper".

Movie Fights back on December 14, 2017 with a new format with Hal Rudnick hosting. The format involves two fighters compared to three and three judges compared to one. However, later on March 29, the format of the two fighters was diverted back to the three fighter formats, although three judicial formats remained.

The show is made in collaboration with Smosh Games, and once a month, an episode will be available through the Smosh Games website. The first six episodes have been recorded previously. In addition, Rarely Game Trailers will be aired on Screen Junkies Plus along with the True Greetings Game Commentary.

In addition to their original series, the Junkies Plus Screen also features special occasional content, including an Edition Extension of their Honest Trailers, special 2015 holidays, and a special two-year retrospective fights movie.

On July 5, 2017 during the Screen Junkies Universe, it was announced that the service would be free with broadcast impressions on YouTube spread over their two channels. Content will remain uploaded to their website until August 5, 2017.

Enable Andy Signore

Screen Junkies co-creator Andy Signore was suspended by Defy Media on October 6, 2017 after allegations of sexual violence and sexual harassment by female fans and co-workers became public. Some women also stated that complaints made to the Department of Defense's Department of HR and management of the incident have been suppressed or ignored by the company for several months until the women involved made the allegations public. On October 8th, Screen Junkies announced on their Twitter page that Signore's work was halted as soon as "There is no justification for this inappropriate and intolerable behavior."

Activity on main channel and News channel The Junkies screen is then suspended until further notice follows the news. The channel's creative team demands patience from the fans; Screen Junkies News's editor-in-chief Roth Cornet made sure that the team "met every day to find a good way forward". Signore images are removed from several video thumbnails in both channels after termination. Activities on both channels resumed on October 30, 2017, after the update video posted on the main channel on October 26th. Some videos on both channels featuring Signore, including all Flick Bait videos, have been removed for sensitivity.
