Dance Moms is an American reality television series that debuted in Lifetime on July 13, 2011 and ends on October 24, 2017. Created by Collins Avenue Productions, the show originally took part in initial training and the children's career in dancing and business shows under Abby Lee Miller's care, as well as the interaction of instructors and dancers with their sometimes arguing mothers. Cheryl Burke replaces Laurieann Gibson during the second half of Season 7.
Organized in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and Los Angeles, California, the show was primarily filmed at the Abby Lee Dance Company (ALDC) studio.

Set in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and later in Los Angeles, California, the event was initially followed by the Junior Elite Abby Lee Dance Company Junior Competition Team as they traveled from week to week to various dance competitions, won awards and prepared for citizens country. , whilst at the same time being prepared by Abby Lee Miller to be "a professional and workable workplace." The series portrays mothers who love him as rivals to each other on behalf of their own daughters, often arguing with Miller and each other, and occasionally closing the ranks against rival teams. The dance performances are creatively conceptualized by Miller and his dance instructor, with input from show producers, while the choreography is done by Miller, his staff, and sometimes a guest choreographer. Various rival dance teams spur team competitiveness. The success of this event is often credited to dramas and conflicts between Miller and the mothers, along with weekly dances and close ties among girls when viewers watch them grow and improve their skills.
The show features Miller as a tight dance team coach who, during the series, relies more on criticism, sometimes privately, to motivate girls, with an emphasis on hard work and competition against his teammates. Every week on the show, Miller uses individual headshots pyramids and gives feedback to every girl about her rank, appearance, attitude, effort, and behavior of the girl last week and her mother. Miller never used a pyramid in his studio before Dance Moms, and when asked about it, Miller declared, "I've never done that in my life, it has nothing to do with me, that's the show they're coming with the whole process. "
In the 5th season, Miller relocated the team to Los Angeles to help build his reputation on the west coast, and as the team continued its weekly competition, the focus shifted somewhat to include preparations for an acting and music business career.
Several episodes featured a selection of controversial costumes made by Miller, some of which were criticized by mothers, most notably Lukasiak and Frazier. Due to harsh criticism, the 2nd season episode of "Topless Showgirls", which aired on March 6, 2012, was removed from rotation. This episode featured young dancers performing mock-style routines and wearing patterned bra tops and muscular stockings, with the power to make them look naked. Miller defended his costume selection by saying, "Everyone in the industry knows the girls are completely closed and all harmless." Lifetime confirmed interesting episodes. This episode is not included in the DVD this season.
Kelly Hyland was arrested in early January 2014 on charges of attacking Miller during a backstage row at a dance competition held in New York City during filming for the fourth season of the event in November 2013. Hyland appeared in court with Miller on January 21, 2014 and pleaded. "not guilty". The trial is scheduled for March but postponed until May 5, 2014. Legal expert Rosemarie Arnold argues that because the episode was aired on TV, Hyland's defense that the alleged assault was a worthy script. On January 29th appearance at The View, Miller announced that Hyland and his daughter Brooke and Paige were no longer contracted and would no longer appear on Dance Moms. The episode featured an incident between Hyland and Miller which aired on February 11, 2014. After the last episode of season 4, Christi and Chloe Lukasiak also left Dance Moms due to humiliation and disdainful treatment of Chloe. In October 2014, the 13-year-old Paige Hyland sued Miller, but Hyland's lawsuit was dismissed.
On October 13, 2015, Abby Lee Miller was indicted in Pittsburgh for allegedly hiding his earnings from appearing on the show in 2012 and 2013. He is accused of bankruptcy fraud, the concealment of bankruptcy assets and a false bankruptcy declaration by hiding about $ 755,000. In June 2016, Miller pleaded guilty to the charge, and entered into a defense agreement with the IRS. In May 2017, Miller was sentenced to one year and one day in prison, followed by two years of supervised release. Season 7 B is the last season to show original cast members. Christi Lukasiak revealed that the original players will not be back for the new season. After filming for Season 7 B wrapped The Irreplaceables announced that they would be touring.

Spin-off
The spin-off series, Dance Moms: Miami, in Victor Smalley and Angel Armas' Stars Dance Studio, premiered on April 3, 2012, and canceled in September 2012.
The sister program titled Abby's Main Dance Competition follows Miller and other dance professionals assessing twelve young dancers aged 6-13 with different dance styles, hoping to find the most versatile dancers in the group. The series airs on October 9, 2012 and runs for two seasons.
In 2014, Miller held another program called Abby's Studio Rescue following Miller as he visited dance studios across the country to help them improve their choreography, studio decorations, staff and other aspects. It aired on June 24, 2014.
In July 2014, another spinoff titled Raising Asia starring Asia Monet Ray, a guest team member for several episodes of season 3 of Dance Moms. The show follows Ray, her model mother, bodybuilder father and Bella Blu's sister, helping Asia to pursue her dream of fame in the show business.
The English version of Dance Moms Dance Mums was aired on October 20, 2014 and lasted for two seasons. Jennifer Ellison organized the series, set at her Liverpool dance school, Jelli Studios. Dance Mums is produced by Shiver Productions.
