Produksi

Home was filmed at various stages because of the landscape depicted. Takes over eighteen months to complete the film, director Yann Arthus-Bertrand and a camera man, a camera engineer and a pilot flying in small helicopters through different regions in over fifty countries. Filming is performed using a high definition "Cineflex" high-definition camera hung from a giro-stabilized ball from the rails at the base of the helicopter. These cameras, originally manufactured for army shooting equipment, reduced the vibration of helping to capture the subtle images, which looked as though they had been filmed from a crane arm or a doll. After almost every flight, the recording is immediately checked to make sure they can be used. After the filming is over, Besson and his crew have more than 488 hours of recording to edit.

Distribution and promotion

To promote an online documentary, a YouTube channel known as "Home Project" has been created. Uploaded to these are a variety of short film clips that occur in different parts of the world including Arctic Circle, Africa, and the major cities shown.

On March 9, 2009, a press conference was held in Paris, France, where Yann Arthus-Bertrand and various producers spoke to the media about the issues raised in the film, confirming that House would be the first film released together in cinemas, on television, on DVD and on the Internet on five continents.

On May 5, 2009, a second press conference was held again in Paris, where the same crew members announced that the movie release date would be June 5, 2009, World Environment Day. Here, they also announced that Home would be 100% free for everyone to see, because "The benefits of this movie can not be counted in dollars, but in the number of viewers." They also revealed that PPR will sponsor the film to facilitate unavoidable costs.

The movie, available for free release until June 14, has been broadcast in 14 languages. The Blu-ray Edition was released by 20th Century Fox and features both English and French versions. It is expected to sell over 100,000 copies. When production costs are met, all proceeds will go to Good Planet Company.

Critical response

Generally, the film was praised for its visual but received criticism about the narrative and contradictory attitude between its message and the sponsor's legacy.

Jeannette Catsoulis of The New York Times criticized the film's narrative and Glenn Close, the English version of the narrator, both about content and style: "We've heard it all before, if not in schoolmarmish tones from Glenn Close, narration who degraded [...] made the film seem almost throughout the life of his subject. "In addition, he denounced the film's accusations against the destructive modern" lifestyle "that was necessary to produce something excessive - the allegation that the film bankrollers, led by the company behind luxury brands like Balenciaga and Gucci, probably familiar with... "

Jean-Michel Frodon, a French film critic, expressed the opinion that " ' Home ' has many audiences but does not have much echo" because of personality, activities, and innovative concepts at no cost. Arthus-Bertrand has attracted more attention than the movie itself.

Jason Buchanan, a film critic for the AllMovie Guide, expressed the view that "we are given a unique opportunity to witness our changing environment from an entirely new standpoint," and that the film was "produced to inspire action and encourage a wise debate. "
