Rewind YouTube

Since 2010, YouTube has released annual YouTube Rewind videos via the Highlights channel. All YouTube Rewind videos from 2012--2017 have surpassed 100 million views, while the 2016 edition surpassed 200 million views. However, 2010 and 2011 videos each have less than 10 million views. The 2016 video became YouTube's fastest video to reach 100 million views, doing so in just 3.2 days. It is also the eighth most favored non-music video of all time with more than 3.40 million likes. On December 14, 2016, shortly after the 2016 Rewind video was released, the Highlights channel exceeded 1 billion total video views.

YouTube Nation

In January 2014, YouTube Nation launched on its own channel, as a collaborative project between YouTube and DreamWorks Animation. DWA oversees YouTube's temporary production managing sales and marketing series. This series is a news series that collects information from the Highlights channel. YouTube promotes the series through its Highlights channels as well. Early in its history, the series used guest hosts Grace Helbig, Hannah Hart, and Mamrie Hart (no relation) to help drive the series and its audience.

Frequently promoted on the Highlights channel, YouTube Country managed to achieve milestones of 1 million subscribers within three months of launch. The series is nominated for the 4th annual Streamy Awards under Best News and Current Events but lost to SourceFed . After 350 episodes, the series aired its final episode on December 5, 2014.

Events

Week themed event

In May 2013, the Highlights channel is used to stream a Week of Comedy event, created by ChannelFlip. During the event, YouTube uses the homepage to highlight comedy videos created specifically for the event. The video of the 2 hour kickoff event has gained 1.06 million views as of September 2014. The event was greeted with mixed critical acceptance, with a certain mix of new and traditional media personalities, as well as technical difficulties specifically researched. This event is the first in relation to being streamed by YouTube. Although it is marketed as the first annual Comedy Week event, there has been no announcement about the upcoming Comedy Week event.

On August 4, 2013, YouTube launched "Geek Week", which was started by Freddie Wong in the United States, and Tomska in the UK. The week consisted of themed days, which included Blockbuster Sunday, Global Geekery Monday, Brainiac Tuesday, Super Wednesday, Gaming Thursday, and Fan Friday. The event was launched in conjunction with Nerdist in the US, and ChannelFlip in the UK.

# ProudToLove

During 2013 LGBT Pride Month, this channel is used to bring light to information and videos related to LGBT and LGBT pride. Google, which owns YouTube, has been documented to be a gay rights winner. An article on the Official YouTube Blog is attached to the event.

YouTube Music Awards

In November 2013, YouTube unveiled its first Music Awards presentation. Announcing his candidacy in the previous month, the awards show aims to create traffic through his social media voting format. The event is streamed to the Highlights channel, and has gained over 4.5 million views per September 2014. Technical difficulties of the event and the number of nominations for mainstream artists, not YouTube artists, are at the center of the overall mixed acceptance criteria.
