Maynard created an electroluminescent costume revealing, inspired by the movie Tron , that he could wear at Penguicon's fictional convention in 2004. He said that he "has not lost Penguicon, and has no intention of". He made a web page of costume pictures, and himself wore it. His photo page quickly gained a lot of attention on the Internet, once posted on Slashdot and Fark.

He was invited to a series of appearances on the late night talk show Jimmy Kimmel Live! in 2004.

In 2006, Maynard appeared in a music video titled "We Are the Web", for a website of the same name. This video supports the concept of network neutrality. Inside, Maynard appeared alongside several other Internet celebrities, including Leslie Hall and Randy Constan. She is also parodied in the episode of South Park 2008 "Canada on Strike". The similarities appear along with other internet celebrities such as Gary Brolsma, Star Wars Kid, Chris Crocker, and Tay Zonday.

In 2009, Maynard was the focus of the "Redemption Web" segment on the TV series episode Tosh.0 ; In this segment, an Internet celebrity answers serious and mock questions from the host Daniel Tosh, then repeating their original actions.

In 2010, Maynard was banned from watching the movie Tron: Legacy in her iconic Tron suit at her local cinema because of the lights that illuminated her jacket.

On June 8, 2011, Maynard appeared on America's Got Talent . He received a "no" vote from all three judges and did not pass the audition. Howie Mandel had him resume his introductory speech several times, so it was not clear what he was going to do.

In 2011, Maynard appeared in "Duck's Video Project Duck" Duck Product, an ad for masking tape. The ad, created by Ryactive and produced by Tongal, re-created the light cycle race of Tron using stop-motion animation, followed by Maynard's appearance in Tron Guy outfits. This video is featured on Wired Magazine as "genius idea" and like many of Maynard's previous videos became viral, becoming the most watched video of all time in Vimeo.

On August 26, 2015, Maynard was interviewed by Scene World Podcast in a live video podcast, hosted by Olympronica for Film & amp; The Games Show is on display at Deutsches Filminstitut in Frankfurt, Germany. The interview is presented live on Twitch.tv, and then published as a video interview on YouTube and an audio podcast.

Leaving Penguicon

On April 30, 2017, Maynard stated on his Medium page that since social policy started at a progressive convention but off-placed him as a conservative, his appearance at Penguicon that year would be the last one, saying "I will return the connection explicitly nonpolitical, known as strong on the one hand, cultural wars will not be invited at all, or if they will be offset by someone on the other. The Panel will not be politically controversial, or else there will be an opportunity - explicitly requested as such - to bring contradictory views Ideally, fraudsters will leave a culture war entirely outside. The disagreement will be explicitly excluded from the harassment policy.
