Calls prank (also known as crank calls , fake calls or false calls ) are practical jokes. Prank phone calls began to gain followers around the world since the invention of the phone, as they became the subject of vague and cute tape cassettes traded among musicians, sound engineers, and media merchants beginning in the late 1970s. Among the most famous and the earliest recorded prank calls are the prank Tube Bar prank tapes, which center on Louis "Red" Deutsch. Comedian Jerry Lewis is an irreplaceable telephone fraud, and recordings of debauchery, dating from the 1960s and perhaps before, are still in circulation today.
The most prominent people have been the victims of prank callers, such as Elizabeth II, fooled by Canadian DJ Pierre Brassard who plays the role of Canadian Prime Minister Jean Chrà © Ã… © tien, asking him to record a speech to support Canadian unity ahead of the 1995 Quebec referendum. Legal issues
Some prank calls are criminalized in many jurisdictions, for example if calls involve emergency service calls, while others may be protected as freedom of expression. For example, in the US, for a prank call in violation of the Telecommunications Act, 47 USCÃ,§ 223 (a) (1) , a call must be made with the intent to "abuse, threaten or harass". In Australia, the 2Day FM incident allegedly violated Australian law by ACMA, but on the grounds that the recorded call was broadcast openly without the consent of the other party.
Rudimentary 'criminal pranks' can range from simple telephone harassment to bomb threats. One such hoax call took place in Perth, Western Australia, on New Year's Eve 2002, when a drunken teenager called a new anti-terrorist hotline to report bomb threats to New Year's Eve fireworks celebrations. The threat was taken seriously, and the celebration would be canceled when police found that there was no such threat. The teenager was later arrested for the false report.
A more complex prank depends on how to deceive the recipient into malicious behavior. An example is a telephone call scam searching for 1996-2004, where idle posing as a police officer can cause store managers to disarm female employee searches. Recently, the Pranknet virtual community has been credited for causing tens of thousands of dollars in damages at many hotels and fast food restaurants. Posing as authority figures, such as firefighter firms and hotel company managers, Pranknet participants referred to unsuspecting employees and customers in the United States via Skype and tricked them into destroying property, lighting flamethrowers and other embarrassing acts such as removing robes. They also post false advertisements on Craigslist, and then shout out racial epithets and make threats of violent rape and murder of those who call them to respond to advertisements. Pranknet members listen in real-time and discuss progress together in a private chat room. The group, who showcased their identity, was overcome when the editor of The Smoking Gun, posing as a journalist, persuaded them to visit a unique URL.
A series of prank calls by Joseph Sherer led to twenty years' conviction and imprisonment for imitating a doctor, criminal criminal, and aggravated assault. Prank calls often appear in many of the previous episodes of The Simpsons , because Bart calls Moe's Tavern to ask the person whose name actually raises doubles. On the episode of Pee-Wee Playhouse , Randy mischievously makes a joke call (the classic "Is your refrigerator running? Then you better catch it!" Gag) and Pee-Wee talks in doing it too. Fonejacker , the show began on April 5, 2007 on E4, starring Kayvan Novak on prank calling to the general public and displayed with animated images in Monty Python style with a moving mouth and live recording as the victim received a call.
Beginning in early 2011, the 4chan drawing board organizes prank callings from the Gold and Silver Pawn Shop in Las Vegas, Nevada, the location of the popular television show Gada Bintang . Callers repeatedly asked employees if they sold Battletoads, a video game for the famous Nintendo Entertainment System because of the difficulty. The 4chan callers recorded this and uploaded it to YouTube, and then a lot of videos related to prank callers who contacted the company randomly and asked about Battletoads have been uploaded.
