Abelardo GutiÃÆ' Â © rrez Alanya (born 24 September 1957), known by his nickname " Tongo ", is a Peruvian singer-songwriter and actor. He began his musical career in 1980 as a peruvian cumbian singer, a popular type of music. Tongo is largely unknown outside his musical niche (traditionally from the lower classes) until his song "La pituca", whose theme focuses on social status and inequality, reaches national notation at the beginning of the twenty-first century. In 2010, the Peruvian newspaper El Comercio listed Tongo as one of the most popular performers in Peruvian show business.
An important part of Tongo's success is his good relationship with Peru's mainstream media and his willingness to use his popularity toward commercial advertising and political campaigns. Her tumultuous friendship with Emmy Award-winning writer and journalist Jaime Bayly proved very important for the emergence of the famous Tongo, when she was a regular guest on Bayly's television program in Peru. Personal life
In 2010, Jaime Bayly announced that he would make Tongo as his third child's godfather. The singer reacts positively to the announcement and, proclaiming himself as an oracle, estimates the boy will become a male Sporting Cristal player and future.
