Advocacy

In July 2012, Luke worked with Refuge, a UK-based advocacy group, to produce the video as part of a 'Do not Cover' campaign to encourage women victims of domestic violence to report incidents. The video describes Luke starting with the usual tutorial, but he is depicted using a foundation to cover up the bruises of the implicit blows. Although Luke is well known in the UK, the video was promoted by the National Organization for Women in the United States, and is reported internationally. Luke notes that, "The bruises on my face for the video are not real, but my emotions in the video I had a bad experience in the past with my previous boyfriend He never physically hurt me but sometimes I fear what will happen next if I say the wrong thing He can be too protective and embarrass me in front of my co-worker or friend for his aggressive behavior Sometimes it's like living with a volcano that can erupt at any time - I feel like I'm walking on an eggshell just to make it explode and destroy something on the other side of the room.
