Shannon Brenda Greene (born May 2, 1958), better known as mononim Shannon , is an American songwriter, recording artist and high-energy singer and dance-pop music. He is famous for recording his best selling single "Let the Music Play".
The album included Let the Music Play (1984), followed by Do You Wanna Get Away (1985) and Love Goes All the Way (1986) ). In 1999, Shannon appeared in the VH1 One-Hit Wonders segment, and returned to music with her fourth album, The Best is yet to Come , released in 2000. This was followed by compilation album, Let The Music Play: The Best of Shannon (2004). Shannon's latest album is A Beauty Returns (2007). In 2016, Carnival Cruise Lines runs the current national television campaign featuring Shannon's music. The new 2016 single is scheduled to be released in the 3rd quarter of 2016.
In December 2016, Billboard magazine placed her as the 86th most successful dance artist of all time.

Biography
In 1983, he enrolled at York College and toured with the New York Jazz Ensemble. Quintin Hicks, a partner of the production team Mark Liggett and Chris Barbosa, saw Shannon singing with live bands in his cousin's recording studio. She auditioned for Liggett and Barbosa with the song "She Can not Do You Like I Do". They introduced it to "Fire and Ice" selection, which later evolved into Shannon's distinctive song, "Let The Music Play"; Its unique sound, called "Shannon Sound", came to be known as "freestyle". Let The Music Play will also be the title of Shannon's debut album, which he released through the team in 1984.
In September 1983, "Let The Music Play" was released, and Shannon was invited back to record more songs with Liggett and Barbosa. The single reached # 8 on Billboard Hot 100 and # 1 on Billboard R & amp; B and the Hot Dance Club Play chart. It also ranked # 49 of Billboard's Top 100 1984 song. It was then ranked # 23 among the best Billboard dance songs of all time.
His debut album, Let The Music Play, was released on February 1, 1984. "Give Me Tonight", a follow-up single, reached number one spot on R & B and Hot Dance Club Play charts. The song went to number 46 on the pop charts. It was one of 30 Billboard's best dance songs for 1984. In the United States, the third single was "My Heart's Divided". The single, featuring Jimi Tunnell as one of the backing vocalists, hit # 3 on the Dance Chart. "Sweet Somebody", a mid-tempo soul effort, became the Big 20 in several European countries.
Shannon's Let Play Music album sold around 1.5 million worldwide, with 500,000 of which are sold in the United States, earning gold certification. Shannon was nominated for a Grammy Award and received many other awards, including the Dinah Washington (Jack the Rapper) Awards, the Hall of Fame Award, the Gold Ampex Reel Award, a gold disc certified by the Recording Industry Association of America, and Best Billboard Top 10 R & B vocalist.
In 1985, Shannon released her second album, Do You Wanna Get Away . The title track was the first single and it became her third single to perform on Hot 100, and her third single reached # 1 on the Dance Chart. He scored three dance hits, including "Stronger Together", Foreigner's "Urgent" cover, and "Stop the Noise", with videos sponsored by Pepsi and Black Angus. Love Goes All the Way , Shannon's third album, was released in 1986.
Shannon was asked to be released from her record deal with Atlantic Records in 1987. She recorded the soundtrack, jingle, and "Criminal", for the Fatal Beauty movie. While traveling the world, Shannon attended and graduated from the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York City.
In 1998, he co-wrote and sang in many songs produced by Todd Terry, Tony Moran, and Sash Germany! and Les Rythmes Digitales. Single Shannon "Move Mania" (Sash!) Became a hit of the EU Dance. In 1999, Shannon appeared in the VH1 One-Hit Wonders segment. Entertainment Tonight is also a special recording of her life. Managed for a period of time by show and event producer Eric Vega. In 2005, NBC's TV show "Hit Me Baby One More Time" aired a full interview about Shannon's life, music, and pre-recorded performances in front of studio audiences for national airing.
Shannon's fourth studio album, The Best Is Yet to Come , was released on March 28, 2000. She is credited as 50% of the album's authors. Chris Barbosa served as a producer, along with Andy "Panda" Tripoli and Tony Moran. This effort pushed Shannon back into the dance world and Billboard Music Charts in the early 2000s with 10 Remix Dance Billboard by veteran DJ/Mixer Junior Vasquez (For "Let The Music Play - The Lost Mixes" - # 3 US Billboard Music Dance) , & amp; Hex Hector for "Give Me Tonight". Shannon then released a compilation album, Let The Music Play: The Best of Shannon , in 2004.
On 20 April 2006, Shannon participated in the Freestyle Extranvaganza concert along with artists Lisa Lisa and Cult Jam, The Cover Girls, Coro, and Stevie B.. The event was sponsored by WKTU, WSKQ, and WCAA in New York.
The fifth studio album, A Beauty Returns , was released in 2007.
Today, Shannon is a Grammy voting member (Recording Academy), and she sometimes performs all over the world.
In 2017, Shannon was a contestant at the FOX Beat Shazam game show where she partnered with former Stetasonic member Bobby Simmons.
