BBC World News is the BBC's international news channel and the latest news channel. It has the largest audience of BBC channels, with an estimated 99 million viewers each week in 2015/16, part of an estimated 265 million users from four major international BBC news services. Launched on March 11, 1991 as a BBC World Service Television outside Europe, its name was changed to BBC World on January 16, 1995 and for BBC World News on April 21, 2008. It broadcasts news bulletins, documentaries, lifestyle programs and interview events. Unlike BBC's domestic channels, BBC World News is owned and operated by BBC Global News Ltd., part of the BBC's commercial group of companies, and is funded by subscription revenue and advertising, and not by UK television licenses. It is not owned by BBC Studios.

Histori
The channel originally started as BBC World Service Television and was a commercial operation. The British government refused to finance a new television service using grant aid. (BBC World Service Radio is funded by grants from Foreign Office and Commonwealth until 2014.) The channel began broadcasting on March 11, 1991, after a two-week real-time pilot, initially as a one-hour bulletin one day at 19:00 GMT.
In 1995, BBC World Service Television was divided into two services:
- BBC World started broadcasting on Monday, January 16, 1995 at 19:00 GMT and became a free 24-hour international news channel in English.
- BBC Prime started broadcasting on Monday, January 30, 1995 at 19:00 GMT and became the BBC's light entertainment channel, later renamed BBC Entertainment .
The BBC World on-air design changed significantly on April 3, 2000, making it closer to the look of its sibling channel in the UK which came to be known as BBC News 24, a redesigned airborne view in 1999. The second channel display consists of red and cream and designed by Lambie-Nairn, with music based on the style described as a 'drum and beep' composed by David Lowe, a departure from orchestral music commonly used by other news programs.
On December 8, 2003, the second makeover, using the same 'drum and beep' style music but new graphics took place, albeit on a much smaller scale than in 2000. The music changed slightly while the main color scheme became black and red, with the studio using glass opaque and white and red. Then in 2004, the channel slogan became Putting News First , replacing Demanding a Wider View .
The current name of the channel -BBC World News- was introduced on 21 April 2008 as part of a 550 million rebranding of the BBC's entire news output and visual identity. BBC World News then moved to a renovated studio left behind by BBC News 24 (now BBC News Channel). New graphics are produced by the Lambie-Nairn design agency and music redesigned by David Lowe.
Move to Broadcasting House
BBC World News moved to Broadcasting House from its previous home on Television Center on January 14, 2013. This is part of BBC News's move and other BBC audio and vision departments to one building in Central London. Broadcasting House is renewed at a cost of Ã, à £ 1 billion. New newsroom and some sophisticated studios are built.

Broadcasting
The live news output comes from B and C studios in Broadcasting House with several recording programs from Broadcast House House A and BBC Millbank studios. BBC News News is now part of the newly consolidated BBC Newsroom in Broadcasting House along with BBC World Service and the UK domestic news service.
Previously, the channel was broadcast in 4: 3 format, with news output fitted into a 14: 9 frame for digital and analogue broadcasting, resulting in black bands on the top and bottom of the screen. On 13 January 2009 at 09:57 GMT, BBC World News shifted its broadcast to 16: 9 format, initially in Europe on the Astra 1L satellite, and the Eutelsat Hot Bird 6 satellite to other broadcast feeds in Asia starting January 20, 2009.
High definition
As a result of moving to Broadcasting House, BBC World News acquired studio and high definition equipment to be broadcast in high definition. On 5 August 2013, BBC World News was offered as a High Definition (HD) feed in the Middle East when it launched its international HD channel in Arabsat. Arabsat is the first BBC distribution partner in the Middle East to offer channels in HD. On April 1, 2015, BBC World News in English began broadcasting in high definition of 11.229 GHz/V transponders on Astra 1KR at orbital position of 19.2 à ° E, free-to-air available to viewers with 60 cm dish across Europe and the coast. North Africa.
Worldwide
BBC World News claims to be watched by a weekly audience of 74 million in more than 200 countries and territories worldwide. BBC World News is most often viewed as a free-to-air (FTA) channel. These channels are available in Europe and many parts of the world via satellite (FTA) or cable platform.
In the United States, this channel is available through providers such as Cablevision, Comcast, Spectrum, Verizon FiOS, and AT & amp; T U-verse. In 2014, the distribution and sale of US advertising for the channel is handled by AMC Networks, which is a minority partner for the BBC American BBC entertainment channel.
In addition, BBC World News links its day and night news programs to public television stations across the US, initially maintaining a distribution partnership with Garden City, a New York-based WLIW that ran from 1998 to October 2008, when the BBC and WLIW decided together. not renewing the contract. BBC World News then signed an agreement with the Southern California Television Community, Inc., where the Los Angeles PBS member station, KCET (which is a public independent station from 2011 to 2018) will take over the distribution rights for BBC World News America (The KCET Agreement has been extended to include a half-hour simulation of the 90 minute newsletter bulletin GMT , which airs in the US as a morning show, and weekly editions of the BBC NewsNight news magazine i>). PBS separately began distributing another channel-served program, Beyond 100 Days , as a late-night broadcast recorded on January 2, 2018, as a temporary replacement for Charlie Rose . Unlike GMT and BBC World News America , Over 100 Days are distributed exclusively to PBS member stations as part of the basic schedule of services.
Online
BBC World News began streaming its content on YouTube on July 16, 2017. This channel is available in the United States as part of an additional World News Sling package.
From 2012 to closed in 2016, BBC World News is available on LiveStation.
United Kingdom
This channel is not officially available as a stand-alone, full-time channel in the United Kingdom because it carries and is funded by advertising (the BBC's domestic channels are funded by the cost of a television license that households and companies wanting to watch television programs as they are being broadcasted have to pay) , although it can be easily accepted because of its 'free-to-air' status on many European satellite systems, including Astra and Hot Bird and available in several London hotels. BBC World News can also be seen in the Broadcasting House public areas (lobby and cafà © à ©).
However, some BBC World News programs are available to UK audiences. There is a simulcast broadcast of the British 5:00 edition of BBC World News on BBC One and the BBC News channel, followed by the edition of the World Business Report . This program was previously labeled as ' The World Today' . However, since November 2017 it has been renamed to Briefing and Business Briefing .
While international audiences see ads during breaks, British viewers see domestic headlines. This simulcast is in addition to an overnight simulcast at the top of the hour from 00:00 to 05:00 British time on BBC World News and BBC News Channel and simply labeled as BBC News (except for Newsday broadcast at 00.00 UK time weekdays ), even if they were produced by BBC World News. The 11:30 UK edition of BBC World News is featured on BBC Two Mon-Fri (but not on Wednesday when Parliament is sitting and there is a question of the Prime Minister), but discontinued in December 2015, has been quietly replaced by the next half hour of the BBC National News (now known as the Live News Room ). It has set up BBC News at 11 BBC Two, which consists of half an hour BBC News and then half an hour from BBC World News. Currently, this also happens on rare occasions during major news events and News Channel presenters will join the BBC World News presenter in Studio C as used by both channels. This is done for example to cover events such as Glasgow Helicopter Crash, Pope Francis Elections, and Boston Marathon Bombings. Previously GMT was shown at 12:30 on the channel.
BBC World News also produces the Outdoor Source version at 9pm Monday-Thursday World News Today at 19:00 Monday-Friday and 21:00 Friday-Sunday UK time. The first half hour of the program can be seen in the UK on BBC Four or BBC News Channel at the weekend. This edition of the program replaces The World , which has been broadcasted as a simulcast broadcast on channels between 2002 and 2007. Both the World and the BBC News Channel also sometimes have to simulcast the same news program due to strike action or technical issues ; this occurred in 2003 when the Television Center in London was affected by electrical problems.

World News Bulletin
The Half-hour BBC World News Newsletter is available to the Public Service Broadcasting station in the United States via KCET Los Angeles, an independent, non-commercial public television station that has been separated from PBS since early 2011 due to a rights charges dispute. 80 to 90% of Americans can receive newsletters, although broadcast times vary between different regions. The program is broadcast on several PBS stations in markets such as New York City and Washington DC.
On PBS stations, BBC World News is not broadcasted with traditional advertisements (pauses filled with news) but ignores Met Office weather forecasts at the end of the program, replacing them with underwriting announcements. PBS broadcasts are recording-delayed at some stations.
BBC America broadcasts BBC World News for 3 hours from 05:00 to 08:00 on weekdays. Met Office estimates removed, and broadcast with ads.
The BBC World News Reporter also appeared on the Hong Kong TVB TV channel instead of NBC Nightly News simultaneously from NBC News via East Coast Feeds at 07:30 Hong Kong Time (18 : 30 New York City Time), China 24 simulcasting at CGTN at 20:15 Beijing/Hong Kong Time and News at 7:30 at 19:30 Hong Kong Time. In Singapore, Britain's leading evenings especially news bulletins appear on: Channel NewsAsia MediaCorp instead of Singapore Tonight at 22:00 Singapore Standard Time.
Many airlines from around the world also play the pre-recorded extracts of BBC World News, have a text title from it or have a complete bulletin available on in-flight entertainment systems. Airlines featuring BBC World News include Garuda Indonesia, Emirates Airlines, Qatar Airways, Malaysia Airlines, Singapore Airlines, Royal Brunei Airlines, Myanmar Airways International, Cathay Pacific, Air New Zealand, Air Canada and Qantas.
Previous Bulletin
Another BBC World News program, an hour BBC World News America , aired on BBC America at 19:00 Eastern Time. The second broadcast at 22:00 Eastern Time ended in 2010 when BBC America introduced the second feed for the US western time zone on February 18, 2011, it was announced that BBC World News America will no longer be a brodacast on BBC America and will be broadcast only on BBC World and local PBS stations in the United States as a 30-minute program.
The channel also generates short bulletins for public transport services in Singapore and Hong Kong:
- Singapore Mass Rapid Transit Service from Marina Bay to Changi International Airport
- Hong Kong Bulk Train Service from Chek Lap Kok International Airport-Disneyland Resort Station to Disneyland Resort Line
This broadcast begins with the statement: "Welcome to BBC World News on the Singapore Mass Rapid Transit and Hong Kong Mass Transit Railway". The brief bulletin is updated twice a day, and has since been replaced by a similar program from Channel NewsAsia from MediaCorp.
Travelers on the Heathrow Express train service from London Paddington to London Heathrow Airport can watch BBC World News's special bulletins recorded. The short bulletin is updated twice daily, and is shown in both classes on LCD televisions throughout the train. However, similar programs from Sky News are now displayed instead.

Presentations
BBC World News is, for the most part, the same channel worldwide; advertising is meant to be the only difference. However, there are several variations of regional programs. For example, programs are created exclusively for regional displays, such as Indian feeds, and The Record Europe , which are only broadcast in Europe. In addition, the weather focuses more on the area that viewers watch.
In most BBC World News feeds, when no ads are inserted by cable or satellite providers similar to other channels, the break fillers display promotions for upcoming programs on the channel. During BBC News, a news item that has not been promoted airs during what will be a commercial break. This is the case on the broadband version of BBC World News, and on BBC World News version aired in the United States on Public Broadcasting stations (PBS). However, there are some global advertisements and sponsors that air throughout the network.
On September 11, 2007, the break filler was redesigned and is now more similar to the previous version. Promotional videos now fill the entire screen and interspersed with news and market updates, schedules, and other information. There is also no unifying music composition. Instead, each 20 second promotional video uses selected music from multiple themes, which has some unifying musical characteristics. The information screen, like a 10-second plug for a website or YouTube channel, and a 15-second weather/time/coming screen display their own theme. The color theme was updated after the channel's relaunch in April 2008.
Since its inception, and more so since its extensive relationship with the BBC News channel, countdowns back to news bulletins every hour has been a feature of channel presentation, accompanied by music composed by David Lowe. The current countdown force features journalists and technical staff in many different locations that serve to broadcast news stories to the air. The countdown can range from 45 seconds to 3 seconds.
Awards
BBC World News was named the Best International News Channel at the Association for International Broadcasting Awards in November 2006. It won the Peabody Prize in 2007 for the White Horse Village and others in 2009 for < i> Where Giving Life is a Death Penalty.
